Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 1 (ANI): Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde expressed strong confidence in the Mahayuti alliance's prospects in the upcoming Maharashtra elections, highlighting the achievements of the current government under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, particularly the 'Ladki Behin Yojana', which has reportedly benefited 2.15 crore women across the state.
"Mahayuti is confident of winning. The way our government, under the leadership of CM Eknath Shinde, has worked--especially through schemes like the Ladki Behin Yojana--gives us confidence as we approach the people with our development agenda. Maharashtra leads in infrastructure, startups, and welfare schemes," Shrikant Shinde told ANI.
Shinde also criticised the opposition, accusing them of fearing the success of the Ladki Behin Yojana and resorting to unfounded allegations against it.
"Seeing the reach of Ladki Behin Yojana, I am pleased to say that 2.15 crore women have benefitted. We are taking our development agenda to the people. Over the last two years, the Chief Minister has focused on the state's progress. The opposition is so unsettled by Ladki Behin Yojana that they keep levelling baseless allegations against it. But if you ask women what Rs1,500 means to them, they will tell you. Congress, over the years, has not delivered on its promises, whereas our government has focused on women's empowerment," Shinde stated.
Earlier, Maharashtra minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Girish Mahajan stated that the Mahayuti government needs to return to power to continue welfare initiatives for the underprivileged, farmers, labourers, and students.
"I prayed to Lord Hanuman today for the Mahayuti government's return so we can continue welfare measures for the poor, farmers, labourers, and students. We need to expand irrigation and education facilities and provide farmers with 24-hour electricity," Mahajan told ANI.
The assembly polls for the 288 seats are scheduled for November 20, with vote counting set for November 23.
The Model Code of Conduct for the Maharashtra Assembly Election took effect on October 15, 2024. The election notification was issued on October 22, with Tuesday as the final day for filing nominations.
Meanwhile, the C-Vigil app, which enables vigilant citizens to report code of conduct violations, received 1,648 complaints from October 15 to 29, of which 1,646 have been addressed by the Election Commission, according to the Chief Electoral Officer's office.
The C-Vigil App, available on any app store, allows citizens to register complaints of code violations. Once a complaint is submitted, the relevant team investigates and takes appropriate action. (ANI)
