HD Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], Nov 9 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will not participate in Tipu Jayanti celebrations due to health concerns.
According to the chief minister office's statement, Kumaraswamy has been advised by doctors to take rest for three days, i.e. November 9-11.
The chief minister will spend time with his family during this period and there will hold no official engagements.
Janata Dal (Secular) Ministers Venkatrao Nadagouda and B Kashempur will attend the celebrations on behalf of Kumaraswamy in his constituencies Bengaluru and Bidar respectively.
"Kumaraswamy has given full authority to the department for celebrations. JDS Minister Venkatrao Nadagouda is attending on behalf of Karnataka Chief Minister in Bengaluru and I'm attending Tipu Jayanti in Bidar," Kashempur said.
Meanwhile, section 144, which prohibits the assembly of more than four people in an area, has been imposed in several parts of the state including Kodagu, Hubli, and Dharwad in order to prevent any untoward incident.
The birth anniversary of the 18th century Mysore ruler has been celebrated on November 10 by the state government since 2014.
However, many people protest against the celebration saying that Tipu Sultan was a 'tyrant' who slaughtered Mysuru rulers. (ANI)
