Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 24 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao on Tuesday questioned the central government on 'inaction and requested the investigation by Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) in the alleged Rs 8868 crore scam related to AMRUT Scheme 2,0 by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy.
KTR had alleged that CM Revanth Reddy 'exploited his position' as the Minister of Administration and Urban Development to benefit his family by awarding them contracts under the scheme.
KTR, speaking with ANI, requested a probe by CVC. "I am giving the proof then why are you (the central government) getting on the back foot from taking action? If the Central government sincerely wants to expose the corruption of the Congress Government, I request them to get the investigations done by the CVC (Central Vigilance Commission). They can immediately start the investigation and the AMRUT Scam can be exposed."
The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme 2.0, which aims to develop basic infrastructure in cities and towns was launched in 2021 under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Earlier KTR had alleged that a 'big scam' happened in the Municipal Department and that CM Reddy did it through the public health department by awarding the contract to his brother-in-law
"In Municipal Department, a big scam happened of Rs 8868 crore through public health department by the CM. He passed the tender and gave work worth Rs 1,132 crores to his brother-in-law. He gave such a big contract to a company which has no technical experience for that," KTR alleged.
KTR further claimed that the CM 'flouted' the rules by awarding the contract to his brother-in-law, Srujan Reddy.
"You swore not to profit any family through your office, but today you gave your brother-in-law, Srujan Reddy, such a project and flouted the rules," KTR said. He had demanded that the Central Government immediately start inquiry and take strict action against the CM Revanth Reddy. (ANI)
