Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 9 (ANI): The famous Chetia Agrani Durga Puja, depicting the ambience of the temple city Kashi and the iconic ghats of Varanasi was celebrated on Tuesday night at the pandal and a symbolic Shiv Mandir Ganga Aarti was also held where the devotees gathered in huge numbers.
The famous puja held highlighted the issue of the pollution of the Ganga river, the water of which is used to worship deities. The organizers aim to convey the message that if the river is polluted, the whole society is polluted.

The Ganga river will be used in various motifs with the ample use of eco-friendly and resource-based items, keeping in mind the variety of artisans who work during the Puja.
The main aim is to inspire people not to pollute the river.
Shatabdi Das Karmakar, a member of the Chetia Argani Durga Puja Committee said that the theme for the Chetia Puja held this year was Ganga Dhushan.
Speaking to ANI, Karmakar said "The theme for this year is 'Ganga Dhushan'. Our aim this year is to save the Ganga River. The time taken to make the pandal this year was three and a half months and we had a turnover of Rs 60 lakh. The Kolkata police has supported us a lot this year and because of them, we have been able to accommodate so many people. We want to spread the message of protecting the Ganga River."
Rilina Basu, another member of the committee, said that the Puja at the pandal will help people reflect on the protection of the river.
"This year our main aim is to reduce the pollution in the Ganga. The message is to show people how the increased pollution in the Ganga River will lead to its drying up. We are showing the three heads of the Kosha which are the humans head and how they are purified by the Ganga river but the river itself is getting polluted. Once you enter the pandal, we are showing the Puja being done and through the Puja help people reflect on the protection of the river," Basu said.
Meanwhile, devotees offered prayers at the Maa Pateshwari Devi temple in Ayodhya and a Puja was performed at the Shri Adhya Katyayani Mandir in New Delhi on the occasion of the seventh day of Shardiya Navratri.

In Vijaywada, devotees visited the Kanaka Durga temple and offered prayers on Moola Nakshatram. Kanaka Durga, adorned in the form of Goddess Saraswati is worshipped during Moola Nakshatram. (ANI)
