Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] October 6 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focus on youth empowerment through sports has transformed Gujarat into a breeding ground for future champions. In Gujarat, the Khel Mahakumbh is a mass sporting festival that identifies and nurtures grassroots talent across the state.
Each year, thousands of athletes from villages and towns participate in this sporting extravaganza, many of whom now represent Gujarat at national competitions. The initiative has not only encouraged widespread participation but has also created a culture of discipline, dedication, and healthy competition among the youth.
Athlete Dev Dinesh shared that the Gujarat government's commitment to sports development has been instrumental in improving facilities. "There are hostels, academic facilities, coaches, physiotherapists, sports science, and a gym; all kinds of facilities are available," he said.

The Sports Authority of Gujarat provides world-class training and infrastructure across disciplines such as athletics, volleyball, archery, and wrestling. High-jump athlete Jamodbai Rameshbai highlighted how consistent coaching and modern training have strengthened her confidence. "We train regularly with physiotherapists and top-notch coaches who ensure we get all the assistance and guidance needed," she said.
Volleyball player Divya Parmar praised the integrated approach that focuses on both physical and mental aspects of training. "The facility offers complete support services, including physiology, psychology, and nutrition, all under one roof," she said. Her coach, Parita Bala, credited the government's sustained support over the past eight years for the sport's success. "We are getting full support from the government, and as a result, multiple medals have been achieved in volleyball over the years," she noted.
Beyond the playing fields, Gujarat's athletes also benefit from physiotherapy units, nutrition counselling, and modern gyms that help maintain peak fitness and ensure faster recovery.
From Khel Mahakumbh to Khelo India, Gujarat's model of sports development continues to inspire the nation. (ANI)
