Kottayam (Kerala) [India], October 6 (ANI): The Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) in Kottayam will be reopening by the end of October this year, said Kottayam Member of Parliament Thomas Chazhikkadan. He said that he recieved a letter from External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar informing the decision.
The operations of the PSK in Kottayam were suspended on February 16th this year follwing a report by the Central Public Works Department on February 14 which pointed out the various safety concerns regarding the building where it functioned.
"I have received a letter from the External Affairs Minister that the passport Kendra will be functioning in a new building, and that the necessary arrangement for creating the office in the building is on. It is also informed that the arrangements are expected to be completed by the end of October 2023," Chazhikkadan told ANI.
After the abrupt suspension of the operation, many political parties protested, and Chazhikkadan met the Chief Passport Officer (CPO) of India and wrote to EAM S Jaishankar seeking to resume the operation. (ANI)
