Kerala: Customs seize 1.41 grams of LSD stamps at Foreign Post office in Ernakulam, 1 arrested

Kochi (Kerala) [India], September 4 (ANI): The Special Intelligence and Investigation Branch (SIIB) seized a parcel containing 123 (1.41 grams) LSD stamps in Kochi said officials on Sunday. LSD or Lysergic acid diethylamide belongs to a group of drugs known as psychedelics.
According to officials of the Custom House, Kochi, the intercepted parcel arrived from the USA on August 31. On examination of the consignment, a total of 123 LSD stamps (1.41 grams) were recovered.
“The parcel was addressed to Chandu Purushothaman, a native of Ernakulam. Evidence collected during the follow-up investigation revealed his crucial rule in the import of LSD stamps in the country”, said the Customs official.
The SIIB arrested Chandu, an engineer by profession, on Saturday while he attempted to collect a dummy parcel. Chandu is said to have played a key role in the import of LSD stamps into the country. 
He was produced before the jurisdictional court and has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
A case has been registered under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is underway.
LSD stamps are small pieces of blotting papers soaked in liquid LSD. LSD is available in saturated absorbent paper divided into small squares, with each square representing one dose, tablets or “micro dots,” saturated sugar cubes, or in a liquid form. (ANI)
