Kerala: 8 tons of flowers shipped through Thiruvananthapuram airport during Onam season

Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram International Airport shipped eight tons of flowers through cargo during the Onam season, according to a press release from the airport.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], September 14 (ANI): Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram International Airport shipped eight tons of flowers through cargo during the Onam season, according to a press release from the airport.
According to the press release, six tonnes were shipped to various cities in India and two tonnes to foreign countries including the Gulf countries. 
The majority of the exported flowers were from areas including Tovala in Tamil Nadu.
Export of perishable goods including fruits and vegetables also increased during Onam. Twenty-five tonnes were shipped to cities in India and 1,498 MT overseas. In July it was 6 tonnes and 1,299 MT respectively.
A total of 1,515 metric tons of goods were exported to foreign countries in the month of August. 214 tons of goods were taken to other cities in India. 12% increase compared to July, said the press release
