New Delhi [India], September 3 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's close aide, Bibhav Kumar, and AAP's former communication head, Vijay Nair, have been released from Tihar Jail after being granted bail by the Supreme Court on Monday.
The courts at Rouse Avenue and Tis Hazari issued their release warrants after accepting the bail and surety bonds.
Special Judge Kaveri Baweja accepted the bail and surety bonds filed for Vijay Nair.
Advocates Rajat Bhardwaj, Mohd. Irshad, and Kaustubh Khanna represented Vijay Nair.
Naveen Chaudhary provided a Rs10 lakh surety bond for Vijay Nair in the money laundering case linked to the Delhi Excise policy, while Ankit Kadyan furnished a Rs2 lakh surety bond in the CBI case related to the same policy.
Nair was granted bail by the Supreme Court after spending 23 months in custody for the Delhi Excise money laundering case. He had previously been granted bail in the CBI case by the trial court in November 2022, but the bond was not furnished as he was subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in September 2022.
In Bibhav Kumar's case, Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Gaurav Goyal of Tis Hazari Court accepted his bail and surety bonds.
Advocate Karan Sharma appeared for Bibhav Kumar and completed the formalities. A Rs1 lakh surety bond was furnished and accepted.
The Tis Hazari Court imposed additional conditions, including that Kumar must keep his mobile phone switched on at all times, join the investigation whenever required, refrain from tampering with evidence, and avoid influencing any witnesses.
Kumar was arrested by Delhi Police on May 18, 2024, for allegedly assaulting AAP MP Swati Maliwal. A charge sheet has been filed against him, and the court has taken cognizance of it. (ANI)
