KCR extends 250 units free electricity to Muslim washermen

This order came close on the heels of the Congress party announcing a guarantee of 200 units free electricity every month under the Griha Jyoti Scheme.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 19 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has ordered to extend the benefit of 250 units of free electricity to Muslim washermen. This benefit was earlier given to Backward Classes washermen as well.
This order came close on the heels of the Congress party announcing a guarantee of 200 units of free electricity every month under the Griha Jyoti Scheme.  
"The Government in Backward Classes Welfare Department is implementing the Scheme of Free Electricity Supply up to 250 Units per month for the BC Caste Dhobis Washermen for the Dhobi Ghats, Laundry Shops etc vide G.O.Ms.No.02, Backward Classes Welfare (D) Department, dated 04.04.2021," a press note issued by the Secretary to Government and Commissioner of Minorities Welfare department stated.
"It has been represented by MP, Hyderabad that there are groups of Muslim Dhobis who are engaged in the same profession and needed similar benefit. Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao  immediately ordered extending the same benefit to Muslim dhobis for their Dhobi Ghats and Laundry Shops," it added.
Telangana will go to polls by the end of this year. The state is expected to see a three-pronged contest against the Congress, BJP and BRS. The results of the assembly elections is expected to set the tone for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls. (ANI)
