Karnataka govt to honour "organ donors" of the state

Appreciating the contribution of organ donors, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Tuesday announced that the state government would honour organ donors on Independence Day and Republic Day.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 16 (ANI): Appreciating the contribution of organ donors, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Tuesday announced that the state government would honour organ donors on Independence Day and Republic Day.
Dinesh Gundu Rao said that this decision has been taken to ensure their legacy lives on and inspires everyone to take it forward.
He stated that their contribution is building an immense healthy society and called them "superior heroes".
Health Minister lauded their decision to help the needy even after dying and said their decision to be a light to others' lives even in their own death is commendable.
Taking it to a social media post on X, Dinesh Gundu Rao wrote, "The contribution of organ donors to building a healthy society is immense. Their decision to be a light to others' lives even in their own death is commendable. This is why our government is already recognizing organ donors and honoring them with letters of appreciation. Henceforth, it has decided to honor organ donors on Independence Day and Republic Day. Take the organ donation pledge today. May yours be a meaningful life. #OrganDonation #SaveLives."


In another post, he wrote, "Heroes come in many forms, and there is none superior to organ donors. Their unimaginable courage and incomparable compassion have the power to transform grief into hope and darkness into light. It's time to appreciate and acknowledge these extraordinary individuals. To ensure their legacy lives on and inspire us all to pay it forward, we have decided to honor such organ donors on our nation's most prestigious days, Independence Day and Republic Day. Take the pledge now and cherish the precious gift of life."


Health Minister further encouraged others also to do the same in order to cherish the precious gift of life.
Earlier on July 9, on the rise in cases of Dengue in Karnataka, state Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that they are strictly monitoring the situation adding that all departments have been instructed to keep doing source reduction.
"We are monitoring the situation...we have strictly instructed all departments to keep doing source reduction...we have asked Asha workers and volunteers to go house to house...govt is working full time...main thing is to control the spread of mosquito and also to stop deaths from happening," Karnataka Health Minister said.
