Karnataka govt instructs hospitals to reserve beds for dengue patients in Bengaluru

Amid the rising dengue cases in the state, the Karnataka government on Thursday instructed hospitals in Bengaluru to reserve beds for dengue patients.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 18 (ANI): Amid the rising dengue cases in the state, the Karnataka government on Thursday instructed hospitals in Bengaluru to reserve beds for dengue patients.
"To combat the surge in dengue cases, we have instructed designated hospitals in Bengaluru to reserve specific beds for the management of dengue patients," Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao posted on X.
The Health Minister further ordered the reservation of 10 beds in all district hospitals and 5 beds in all taluk hospitals across the state.
"In addition, we have ordered the reservation of 10 beds in all district hospitals and 5 beds in all taluk hospitals across the state. This increased allocation will ensure timely and effective treatment for those in need," he added.
As per the order, KC General Hospital, CV Raman Hospital, and GH Jayanagara have been instructed to reserve 25 beds each, while Taluk hospitals in Yelahanka and KR Puram have been directed to reserve 10 beds each.
The notice further stated that this is over and above the instructions issued previously on the reservation of 10 beds each in district headquarters Health and Family Welfare hospitals and five beds each in taluka headquarters Health and Family Welfare hospitals, which shall continue until further orders.
Rao further said that the state government is committed to working tirelessly to contain the dengue outbreak and ensure the well-being of the people.
In a message to the citizens of the state, the Health Minister said "I urge the public not to panic about the rising number of #dengue cases, which is largely due to increased testing. We're fully prepared to handle the surge and have taken comprehensive measures to prevent the spread of dengue. Our teams are on high alert, ensuring prompt medical care for those affected. We're also raising awareness and conducting door-to-door checks to identify and eliminate breeding sites. Join our 'Weekly One Day - Every Friday' initiative to keep our surroundings clean. Together, let's Defeat Dengue," he posted on X
With the onset of the monsoon, India is reeling under the menace of vector-borne diseases. Karnataka has witnessed several cases of the disease in the state.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also instructed the officials to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. He further instructed the officials to allocate 10 beds in a ward at every hospital separately for dengue cases. (ANI)
