Karnataka: Girl attacked by fellow student in Puttur; police investigation ongoing

Mangaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 21 (ANI): In a shocking incident in Puttur, Dakshina Kannada, a girl was assaulted by a fellow student who reportedly had a crush on her.
According to Superintendent of Police Yathish N., the attack occurred on the morning of August 20 when the girl was on her way to college.
The boy, known to the victim, approached her and, after his advances were rejected, attacked her with a weapon, injuring her hand.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at the government hospital.
A case has been registered at the D.K. Women's Police Station under case number 42/2024, invoking sections 78, 126(2), 118(1), 238 BNS 2023, and section 12 of the POCSO Act.
The investigation is ongoing. (ANI)
