Karnataka: FIR against BJP's social media post titled 'Congress Manifesto or Muslim Legue Manifesto'

An FIR has been filed against a social media post by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s official handle titled 'Congress Manifesto or Muslim League Manifesto' on Wednesday for allegedly "promoting hatred and enmity" between different groups and classes.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 24 (ANI): An FIR has been filed against a social media post by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s official handle titled 'Congress Manifesto or Muslim League Manifesto' on Wednesday for allegedly "promoting hatred and enmity" between different groups and classes, officials said.
In a post shared on X, the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer stated, "An FIR has been lodged by the FST team of Malleswaram Assembly Constituency against a tweet posted in X by BJP's Official handle on April 23, titled "Congress Manifesto or Muslim League Manifesto" at Malleswaram Police Station."

A case under section 125 of the Representation of the People (RP) Act, 1951, and also under section 153 of the IPC has been registered in this regard.
"FIR u/s 125 of RP Act and 153 of IPC is booked on April 24, for promoting hatred and enmity between different groups and classes of citizens," the officer said.
In the post shared by the BJP Karnataka, it said, "Congress Manifesto or Muslim League Manifesto? Hijab Enforcement in Educational Institutions. Wealth Distribution to Muslims. Special Reservations to Muslims. Freedom to Practice Personal Laws. Muslims to be Directly Appointed as Judges. Mandate to Public & Private entities to hire Muslims. & Many more such divisive agendas!"

"The Congress' sinister designs are clear: To take away the hard-earned money of Indians & to gift it to Muslims. They will seize our land, wealth and rights, only to gift them to 'Peacefuls', the post stated. (ANI)
