Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar attend 'Mysuru Dasara' celebrations

Mysuru (Karnataka) [India], October 24 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar on Tuesday reached Mysuru for the renowned 'Mysuru Dasara' celebrations.

Mysuru- the palace city of Karnataka is all decked up for Vijaya Dashmi, which will also mark the grand finale of the 10-day long world-renowned 'Mysuru Dasara' celebrations.
Celebrated as 'Nada Habba' (state festival), the Dasara or 'Sharan Navaratri' was a grand affair this year, depicting Karnataka's rich culture and traditions, coupled with reminiscence of royal glory.
Deputy CM Shivakumar, while speaking to ANI said that women of the state are availing free bus service to witness the festival.
"Lakhs of people including women availing free bus service for them in the state have come to Mysuru to witness this festival. This is the strength of the Congress government in the state," he said.
Thousands of people are expected to witness the 'Jamboo Savari', a march of a dozen caparisoned elephants led by 'Abhimanyu' carrying the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari, the presiding deity of Mysuru royals, on a 750 kg howdah or "Ambari" with gold.
The police department has made elaborate security arrangements right from the Palace to the Bannimantap grounds. More than 6,000 personnel have been deployed for Dasara duty, to ensure that the festival concludes in a peaceful manner. (ANI)
