Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah chairs meeting to review rural developmental works 

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss the implementation of the schemes announced in the 2023-24 budget of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, according to an official statement.

Bengaluru (Karnataka ) [India], August 25 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss the implementation of the schemes announced in the 2023-24 budget of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, according to an official statement. 
It was decided in the meeting that two lakh drought relief works, 81 thousand flood control works and 4,268 landslide prevention works will be undertaken under the MNAREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme). 
Crematorium land in 27,903 villages will be developed as Shanti Dhamas. Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyanka Kharge explained that 5,000 school grounds will be upgraded as Vidyadhams, 750 village shantis and 27 thousand bore wells recharge work will be implemented.
The Chief Minister directed officials to visit and report about the number of works completed and the number of houses supplied with drinking water under the multi-village drinking water scheme in the Varuna constituency.
The village panchayat libraries should be upgraded into knowledge centres. These centres must provide facilities like digital learning materials, professional guidance system, constitutional education system, specially-abled friendly technology and knowledge sharing by skilled persons. The CM said that opening libraries during weekends will help the students.
The CM opined that this scheme will be helpful for students and dropout children and should be implemented over a period of three years.
The Chief Minister directed that 4,000 Koosina Mane should be established to create job opportunities for women and for the safety and nutrition of children below six years as stated in the budget.
The minister explained that Rs 10 crore has been provided to select one skilled young graduate from each taluk for a period of 24 months under the Chief Minister's Fellowship
The Chief Minister directed to implementation of the construction work of 400 community toilet complexes in the Kalyana Karnataka region at a cost of 25 lakhs each using modern technology.
It was explained in the meeting that work has been completed for 800 villages under the Jal Jeevan Mission project.
Construction of one recovery facility in 27 districts at a cost of 2 crore each to ensure continuity and scientific management of dry waste disposal in rural areas. The minister informed that Rs.22 crore will be provided in the current year, said the statement. (ANI)
