Karnataka: Auto-rickshaw driver dies after falling into stormwater drain in Mangaluru

A driver died after the auto-rickshaw he was driving fell into a stormwater drain at Abbakka Nagara near Kottara in Karnataka's Mangaluru on Friday night.

Mangaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 25 (ANI): A driver died after the auto-rickshaw he was driving fell into a stormwater drain at Abbakka Nagara near Kottara in Karnataka's Mangaluru on Friday night, police said.
The deceased auto driver has been identified as Deepak Acharya.
"Last night at around 11:00 PM, Deepak Acharya, an auto-rickshaw driver, fell into the drain passing under Tiruvu Road near Yamuna Paradise Apartment in Kottara while driving. The driver drowned and died," Mangaluru Commissioner of Police, Anupam Agrawal said.
"A case has been registered under IPC section 304A against the concerned officials of Mangalore City Municipal Corporation, and we are further looking into the incident," the police said.
