Karnataka: 3 held in stabbing incident in Gundamma

The Koppal police in Karnataka have arrested three people in an alleged stabbing case in the Gundamma locality, police officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Koppal (Karnataka) [India], September 24 (ANI): The Koppal police in Karnataka have arrested three people in an alleged stabbing case in the Gundamma locality here, police said on Tuesday.
Police officials said that a fight broke out in Gundamma locality in Koppal, leading to three persons sustaining injuries and a complaint being filed against nine people.
According to Koppal Superintendent of Police Ram Arasiddi, a scuffle broke out on Monday due to personal enmity between two groups.
One of the injured was identified as Shivakumar, who stays in Gundamma locality.
"A Ganesha procession was taken out peacefully yesterday by a group in the Gundamma camp. In an isolated incident, a fight broke out in the same camp in which a person identified as one Shivakumar, and two others were injured," the police official said.
The police have confirmed that the area is peaceful now, with no further incidents.
A complaint was filed by a local identified as Manjunath.
"Manujnath gave a complaint and now an atrocity case has been filed. Three people have been arrested. and three to four people are yet to be arrested. There is peace now. This incident happened due to personal enmity," added the police official.
The police said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
In another incident on September 18 in Belagavi, Karnataka, three people were stabbed in a scuffle between two groups.
The police said that there was a scuffle between these groups during a Ganesha procession and the attack happened later near the Belagavi Civil Hospital. The police, however, ruled out any communal angle to the fight.
"This incident did not take place during the procession. It happened near the Civil Hospital. Preliminary investigation suggests that there was some scuffle during the procession. The police team present there intervened and the two groups were separated. The procession was over. We found out that there was some enmity between the victim and the accused, due to which this incident happened," Iada Martin Marbaniang, Belagavi Commissioner, said. (ANI)
