Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 26 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav praised the bravery and courage of the Indian Army on the occasion of 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas on Saturday, calling it an "indelible day in India's glorious history".
CM Yadav also paid a heartfelt tribute to the brave Indian warriors who sacrificed their lives during the war and said they made the whole nation proud.
"Kargil Diwas is an indelible day in India's glorious history. The Indian Army displayed the pinnacle of valour and bravery, and defeated Pakistan on July 26, 1999, under the leadership of the then Prime Minister, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Those 60 days of war still linger in people's minds. The way our brave soldiers not only waved the flag of their courage but also made the entire nation proud," Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said.
The CM further said that everyone witnessed how Pakistan moved back, leaving its soldiers, and also saw their nefarious actions and their feelings.
"On the occasion of Kargil Day, we all pray to God that such a day never comes again. But the way our Army showed courage, bravery and waved the banner of valour, we all are proud that the Indian army is always able to face such challenges," he added.
Additionally, in a post on X, CM Yadav said, "Heartiest congratulations on Kargil Vijay Diwas, the immortal saga of valour and sacrifice, it is an occasion of pride for all of us. Heartfelt tribute to brave sons of Maa Bharati, who sacrificed everything and achieved victory by killing the enemy in the Kargil war. Our soldiers waved the tricolour in the war that lasted for more than 60 days. It is the occasion to pledge dedication to the nation. Let us all take a pledge to dedicate everything in the service of Maa Bharati."
The Kargil War is a saga of strong political, military and diplomatic actions. This War will always be remembered for its strategic and tactical surprises, as well as the self-imposed national strategy of restraint in keeping the war limited to the Kargil-Siachen sectors and the swiftly executed tri-services military strategy.
The Kargil War lasted for more than 60 days and concluded on July 26, 1999, with a gallant victory for India. Indian armed forces successfully reclaimed the command of the high outposts that were treacherously occupied by Pakistani soldiers during the winter months.
According to IAF, Operation Safed Sagar, the Indian Air Force's codename for its air operations during the 1999 Kargil War, was a trailblazer in many ways and proved that air power could decisively alter the course of battle without crossing international boundaries. The operation was launched on May 26, 1999, marking the first large-scale use of air power in Kashmir since 1971 and demonstrating the effectiveness of limited air asset use in a localised conflict.
