Kannauj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 6 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Asim Arun from Kannauj on Thursday wrote to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav after he emerged victorious and wrote a letter to SP chief expressing his desire to work together for the development of the region.

"Congratulations to you on being elected as MP from Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency. I am an MLA from Kannauj Sadar Assembly Constituency. Kannauj city has an interesting situation in that the Municipal Council President is from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). I am an MLA from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and, now you have been elected as MP from the Samajwadi Party. This is also, in my opinion, the beauty of Indian democracy," Asim Arun stated in the letter.
Notably, in a significant political shift in Uttar Pradesh, after the Samajwadi Party won 37 seats while the Bhartiya Janata Party managed to clinch 33 seats, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav called the victory as "people-loved victory of the INDIA alliance."
Meanwhile, the Congress secured victory on six seats while independent candidate Chandrashekhar Azad won in Nagina.
He also called the victory of the 18th Lok Sabha elections the victory of women's dignity and women's safety, the victory of the golden future of young women and boys, the victory of new hopes of farmers, labourers, businessmen and traders, a collective victory of harmony-loving, inclusive and egalitarian positive people of the entire society.
Meanwhile, the final count for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections has been concluded with the BJP securing a total of 240 seats out of 543 seats. Despite this being fewer than anticipated, the BJP maintained a decisive lead over the Opposition, Congress, which garnered 99 seats. (ANI)
