Kallakurichi hooch tragedy: Seven people discharged from hospitals, 157 undergoing treatment

As per the Kallakurichi district administration's report, a total of 220 people were admitted at hospitals in Tamil Nadu with new admissions being four, after the consumption of spurious liquor.

Kallakurichi (Tamil Nadu) [India], June 23 (ANI): A total of seven people including five men and two women who were undergoing treatment at hospitals in Tamil Nadu after consuming illicit liquor have been discharged, according to Kallakurichi District Magistrate.
As per the Kallakurichi district administration's report, a total of 220 people were admitted at hospitals in Tamil Nadu with new admissions being four, after the consumption of spurious liquor.
Meanwhile, five people were discharged from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer), Puducherry, whereas 12 others are undergoing treatment. Three have been declared dead.
Out of 142 people undergoing treatment at Kallakurichi Medical College, 31 have been declared dead while 111 are under treatment with new admissions being three.
As per the official data, 30 people are alive, whereas 18 have been reported dead at Salem Medical College.
Four people are undergoing treatment while four have been declared dead at Villupuram Medical College.
Meanwhile, at Shri Sanjeevi Hospital, two people admitted and both of them have been discharged.
According to the officials, there are 157 people undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Tamil Nadu including -- 151 males, five females, and one transgender. (ANI)
