Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], November 26 (ANI): BJP National President JP Nadda characterized the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) as "two sides of the same coin," alleging that both parties are involved in corruption, dynastic politics, and misgovernance.
During a press conference in poll-bound Telangana, Nadda accused the BRS government in the state, led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, of massive corruption and poor governance, which he claimed has kept Telangana in a "backward" state.
"The people of Telangana will never forget the suppression by the Congress, they will never forgive Congress. As far as BRS is concerned after Telangana was formed, the state has remained backward while KCR's family has moved forward," Nadda said.
Alleging immense corruption in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in the state, the BJP President alleged that the project has become the ATM of the CM KCR.
"He(KCR) promoted dynastic politics. Along with dynastic politics, he also indulged in corruption. Kalewaram project has become the ATM of KCR, "Nadda alleged.
"The farmers of Telangana will not forgive the BRS government . He(KCR) stopped the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the state. The BRS government also hoodwinked people on 2BHK project. So Congress and BRS are two sides of the same coin," Nadda added.
Under the 2BHK housing scheme, the Telangana Government seeks to provide 2BHK houses to homeless families in the state in a phased manner.
The BJP President said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has progressed on many fronts.
"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Image of India abroad has improved. Our Economy has progressed. We have become the fifth-largest economy. A lot of work has been done on the development of Women. Farmers got new strength," the BJP president said.
Telangana is poised for a three-cornered contest between the ruling BRS, which is bidding to return to the hustings for a third straight term, the Congress, and a resurgent BJP.
In the last Assembly elections in 2018, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 of the 119 seats, hogging 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress came in a distant second with just 19 seats while the BJP drew a blank. (ANI)
