Journalist Upendra Rai's bail plea dismissed

New Delhi [India], Nov 13 (ANI): Delhi's Patiala House Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of journalist Upendra Rai who was arrested in an alleged money laundering case.

New Delhi [India], Nov 13 (ANI): Delhi's Patiala House Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of journalist Upendra Rai who was arrested in an alleged money laundering case.
Contesting against the bail plea, Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted that the accused may influence the witnesses and may hamper the probe if released on bail.
Denying the relief to the accused journalist, the court said that charges against Rai were of serious nature.
On August 9, the Patiala House Special Court took cognisance of prosecution complaint filed by ED against Rai before the Special Judge (the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED filed the complaint against Rai on August 6 in an alleged money laundering case to the tune of Rs. 29, 58,09,570.
Rai was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) under PMLA on June 8 and has been in judicial custody since then. (ANI)
