JNU defends letter to Romila Thapar

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of a video circulating on social media concerning allegations of sexual harassment reportedly raised by some female students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) against a professor.

“A joint declaration would be an amazing achievement because all the leaders are already here- important leaders. So now the second step would be to get the joint declaration,” Kumar said.

"There is an issue with the active discourse; people within the system with political agendas are trying to steer this in a different direction. They want the process to drag on--with hearings and calls for resignations--without any actual change happening on the ground," Saksham told ANI.

The Delhi High Court's Division Bench on Tuesday modified an interim order that had stalled Jawaharlal Nehru University's postgraduate admission process, allowing the varsity to continue admissions under its "deprivation points" policy.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers' Association (JNUTA) has demanded an immediate freeze on ongoing teaching and non-teaching recruitment at JNU, alleging procedural violations and irregularities in appointments since 2022. The teachers' body has also called for the scrapping of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and restoration of the JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE).
