J&K: Teen raped in Ganderbal, accused arrested

Ganderbal (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 15 (ANI): Amid massive protests in the Valley over the rape of a minor in Bandipore district, another minor has been allegedly raped in central Kashmir.

Ganderbal (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 15 (ANI): Amid massive protests in the Valley over the rape of a minor in Bandipore district, another minor has been allegedly raped in central Kashmir.
Following a complaint received on May 12, police have arrested the accused. A case has been registered under section 451 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO).
"As a part of the investigation, the teenager has been medically examined. A special team has been constituted to fast-track the investigation of the case in a professional manner," police officials said.
This gruesome incident comes after a minor girl was allegedly raped by a local boy in Sumbal area of Bandipora district in north Kashmir on May 9.
People of the Valley are in outrage since the incident happened. A protest over the Bandipora rape turned ugly on May 14 when agitators clashed with security forces in Srinagar.
The Governor has directed the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and IG Police to personally monitor the investigation. (ANI)
