Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) [India], January 30 (ANI): Jharkhand Police rescued Kairav Gandhi, son of Jamshedpur-based businessman Devang Gandhi, from the kidnappers, and three miscreants were injured in an encounter, Bistupur Police Station Officer Alok Dubey said on Friday.
Speaking to ANI, the police official said that Kairav Gandhi was kidnapped on January 13, and police managed to rescue him by January 27.
Police raided multiple districts in Bihar, during which the suspects snatched a cartridge and fired at police personnel. The police officials injured three miscreants, hailing from Nalanda and Gaya in Bihar, in a retaliatory fire.
Station Officer Alok Dubey said, "On January 13, Kairav Gandhi was kidnapped near the Bistupur police station. The team rescued him on the nights of January 26 and 27. We then raided multiple districts in Bihar, arresting several suspects. Three suspects confessed to discarding weapons along the road while kidnapping Kairav Gandhi."
"During recovery, we found two homemade pistols and four bullets. When attempting to recover the weapons, the suspects snatched a cartridge and fired six rounds at police, injuring no one in our team. Police responded with five rounds, hitting Guddu Singh, Imran Alam, and Rameez Raja in the legs. They were hospitalised, stabilised, and are undergoing treatment and legal procedures. All are from Bihar, specifically the Nalanda and Gaya districts," the police officer added.
Devang Gandhi is the Director of Empire Auto Pvt Ltd, and for the past 11 months, his son Kairav Gandhi also worked in his firm as one of the Directors.
Further details on the investigation are awaited.
In a separate case in Uttar Pradesh, earlier this month, the Nawabganj Police in the Bareilly district arrested three men in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a minor girl, officials said.
Circle Officer (CO) Nilesh Mishra said the main accused was arrested, while two of his accomplices were arrested on Saturday. All three accused have been remanded to judicial custody. (ANI)
