New Delhi [India], July 24 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted extensive searches at four locations in Jharkhand in a case relating to the arrest of CPI (Maoist) cadres and seizure of arms and ammunition. NIA seized over Rs 36 lakhs along with incriminating posters, digital devices and various other documents, a press release by NIA said.

The searches were undertaken at the premises of suspects at two locations in Ranchi district and two in Latehar district of Jharkhand in connection with the case RC-02/2022/NIA/RNC. NIA had taken over the investigation from Peshrar police station in district Lohardaga on June 14, 2022.

"During the searches, an amount of Rs 36,30,000, along with incriminating posters, digital devices and various other documents was seized," NIA said.

NIA had earlier filed supplementary chargesheets against 22 accused under relevant sections of IPC, Arms Act, Explosive Substance Act, CLA Act and UA(P) Act in the case. The accused were found to be working as OGWs (overground workers) of CPI (Maoist), a proscribed terrorist organization.

Investigations had revealed that these accused had assisted members of CPI (Maoist) with logistics support and were also involved in channelizing the levy/money extorted by the outfit's armed cadres.

Investigations in the case are in progress. (ANI)
