New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): The leaders of Janata Dal (United) arrived at the residence of Bihar Chief Minister and party leader Nitish Kumar to attend a party meeting to discuss the future course of action after the NDA's victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Party leader Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, JD(U) MP from Bhagalpur, Ajay Kumar Mandal, Devesh Chandra Thakur, Kaushalendra Kumar, and Ram Nath Thakur among others were the first to arrive at the meeting.
All 12 MPs of the JD(U) are going to be present at the meeting.
On being asked if he aims for a ministerial position in the party, JD(U) leader Ajay Kumar Mandal said, "I never think of becoming anything in the party. I am a soldier of the party. It is the leader who will make decisions. I will accept whatever they decide and will do as they say. I cannot say who will be the ministers..."
Regarding calls for Bihar to be granted "special status," Mandal emphasized that such decisions ultimately rest with the party leadership.
Commenting on Bihar getting a "special status" and demand for important ministries, Anand Mohan said, "The demand for the railway ministry is confirmed. It has been in Bihar's share... The Backward Bihar needs the railway ministry... The CM took Bihar out of 'jungle-raj' and made a developing Bihar in the last 16 years. If we want to give it wings, then the 'special' state demanded must be fulfilled."
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also said that if Nitish Kumar has got a good opportunity of being a "kingmaker" he should demand "special status" and a caste-based census in the entire country.
"NDA has numbers but we want the government which will be formed should take care of Bihar and ensure that Bihar gets a special status...It is a good opportunity for Nitish Kumar if he is the kingmaker, he should make sure that Bihar gets a special status and conduct caste-based census in the entire country. For the first time, we have seen that PM Modi's magic has finished and he is far away from the majority. He will not be able to run the Govt without two of his allies," Tejwasi Yadav said earlier while speaking to ANI.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders elected Narendra Modi as their leader on June 5.
The meeting of the newly elected MPs of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was held on June 5 in the national capital.
The "kingmakers" JD (U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP's chief Chandrababu Naidu also backed Narendra Modi's Prime Minister candidature. (ANI)
