Hanumangarh (Rajasthan) [India], Dec 5 (ANI): At a time when campaigning in Rajasthan is in full swing with banners and hoardings all over the place, villagers of Jasana in Nohar in Hanumangarh district have decided not to exercise their franchise.
The residents of the village are allegedly disgruntled with the State government after one of the villagers Pavan Vyas who worked as E-Gram Panchayat was murdered in his office on October 17 last year.
The villagers alleged that the police was not investigating the case while the government turned a "deaf ear" to their demand of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the case.
"About 7500 people are presently living in the village but no one will cast vote until and unless the deceased gets justice," said Dindayal Sharma, a villager.
"No investigation has been done by the police in the case. Moreover, the demand for CBI inquiry from the Vyas family has also not been entertained, nothing has been done about it," said Ramesh Behniwal, another resident of the village.
The family members of late Pavan Vyas asserted that they will also not vote in the Lok Sabha elections due next year and also in village Panchayat elections.
Assembly elections in Rajasthan will take place on December 7 while the counting of votes will take place on December 11. (ANI)
