Jammu: Two held for impersonating IPS officer, Inspector

The duo threatened him to hand over his laptop and were harassing him, as per police, adding they threatened to put him in jail and even shoot him if he did not follow their directions.

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 3 (ANI): Two persons were arrested for impersonating a police Inspector and an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and harassing a man, Jammu police said.
The accused have been identified as Kaiser Shahnawaz Mir, a resident of Dangerpora Baramulla and Mohd Tanveer Alias Arif Wani, a resident of Sopore, Baramulla.
SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli said that a complaint was lodged at Nowabad police station stating that two persons posing as IPS officers and Inspectors "were threatening him".
In his complaint, the victim alleged that he met a person Kaiser Jeelani on a social networking site who introduced himself as an IPS officer and became friends. He finally met him in Hotel Green Mint Gumat near Fish Market, SSP Kohli said.
"On entering the room he saw Kaiser Jeelani and another person in police uniform with stars portraying him as Inspector. The accused told him they both are in the National Investigation Agency," read the First Information Report.
The duo threatened him to hand over his laptop and were harassing him, as per police, adding they threatened to put him in jail and even shoot him if he did not follow their directions.
After receiving the complaint, a case was registered and an investigation was started.
During the investigation, Special teams led by Superintendent of Police Kulbir Handa, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunniya Wani and assisted by Station House Officer Surinder Raina arrested the accused.
Police in a statement issued here said that both the accused have been arrested from a hotel in the Jewel area of Jammu.
