Jammu IGP reviews preparedness for President's visit, Navratri celebration

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Jammu, Anand Jain, on Tuesday reviewed preparedness at the Bhawan and Katra police stations in Jammu and Kashmir, amid President Droupadi Murmu's visit to the Union Territory (UT) and Navratri festival, an official statement said.

Jammu IGP reviews preparedness for President's visit, Navratri celebration

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 11 (ANI): The Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Jammu, Anand Jain, on Tuesday reviewed preparedness at the Bhawan and Katra police stations in Jammu and Kashmir, amid President Droupadi Murmu's visit to the Union Territory (UT) and Navratri festival, an official statement said.
The IGP also chaired two separate meetings at Katra and Bhawan police stations.

In the meeting, IGP Jain provided necessary directions to the officials, the statement added.
During these meetings, the IGP emphasized the importance of remaining "extra vigilant" for the visit and he urged all the officers and jawans to prioritize security measures accordingly, keeping in view the upcoming Navratras festival 2023, it further said.

While interacting with men on the ground, the IGP personally visited and inspected Katra town.

IGP Anand Jain also stressed the efforts to ensure the overall safety and security of the region.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu earlier today graced and addressed the 20th convocation of the University of Kashmir at Srinagar.
According to a press statement from the President's Secretariat, speaking on the occasion, the President said that the country is proud of the responsible youth of Kashmir. She urged students of the University of Kashmir to actively participate in social service along with their studies.
She said that by doing this, they could bring social change and set an example. She was happy to note that alumni have brought glory to this university by serving the country.
President Droupadi Murmu laid a wreath at the Chinar War Memorial in Srinagar to pay tributes to the soldiers who made supreme sacrifices in the line of duty on Wednesday.
"The President of India, Droupadi Murmu will visit Jammu and Kashmir from October 11 to 12, 2023. On October 11, 2023, the President will grace the 20th convocation of the University of Kashmir at Srinagar. On the same day, she will interact with the members of local tribal groups and women Self Help Groups at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar. The President will also attend a civic reception to be hosted in her honour at the Raj Bhavan." stated the release from the President's Secretariat earlier.
"On October 12, 2023, the President will visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine where she will inaugurate the remodelled Parvati Bhavan and Skywalk," added the release. (ANI).
