Jamia Millia Islamia appoints 161 teachers under Direct Recruitment category

Jamia Millia Islamia University has appointed 161 new members of teaching faculty under the Direct Recruitment category, an official statement issued by the varsity said on Thursday.

New Delhi [India], September 29 (ANI): Jamia Millia Islamia University has appointed 161 new members of teaching faculty under the Direct Recruitment category, an official statement issued by the varsity said on Thursday. 
"Under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Najma Akhtar (Padma Shri), Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), the university has filled up vacant teaching and non-teaching positions on ‘mission mode’. It has so far appointed 161 new members of teaching faculty under the Direct Recruitment category," an official statement said. 
"These members of the teaching faculty were selected through 154 proper selection committees. It seems significant to mention that 53 out of 154 newly appointed members of the teaching faculty are women," it added. 
University said that 372 existing members of teaching faculty were promoted to the posts of Professors and Associate Professors under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP). 
"Under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) Scheme, 372 existing members of teaching faculty were promoted to the posts of Professors and Associate Professors and 160 Assistant Professors were promoted to Associate Professor (Stage-2 and Stage-3) during the same period," statement said adding that the number of women members of teaching faculty who got promotions under the above categories is 131.
Jamia Millia Islamia said that university conducted online proper selection committees to ensure that the recruitment and promotion process did not get affected even during the Covid-19 pandemic. 
"Until now the university has made 698 appointments, including teaching and non-teaching staff, 33 teachers from Jamia Schools under Direct recruitment and promotion schemes," statement said. 
Vice Chancellor Najma Akhtar said that Jamia has been able to competently select and appoint employees in various categories under mission mode recruitment process. 
"It is the first and foremost duty of the VC to give the university the best members of teaching faculty and non teaching staff. I have come off with flying colours in these attempts in alignment with our Prime Minister’s mission," Jamia VC said. (ANI)
