Jagannath Temple reform case: Amicus Curiae held 'very detailed' discussions with stakeholders

New Delhi [India], Mar 10 (ANI): The Supreme Court-appointed Amicus Curiae Ranjeet Kumar in his report on Odisha's Puri Jagannath Temple case has stated that he has made detailed submissions for reforms after discussing with all stakeholders.

New Delhi [India], Mar 10 (ANI): The Supreme Court-appointed Amicus Curiae Ranjeet Kumar in his report on Odisha's Puri Jagannath Temple case has stated that he has made detailed submissions for reforms after discussing with all stakeholders.
"The whole process and interaction was very detailed with every stakeholders having their views which need detailed hearing for the purpose of passing any comprehensive order by the SC," Kumar, a former Solicitor General (SG) and senior Supreme Court lawyer, in his report submitted to the SC.
The 35-page report of the Amicus Curiae, a copy accessed by ANI, stated that all the stakeholders had a discussion over many burning issues of the Jagannath temple.
These issues include the abolition of hereditary sevakas, queue system for hassle-free darshan, surveillance of collection of funds from hundis and receptacles, audit of temple funds by Accountant General (AG) and reduction in overstaff and temple administration are the majority among others.
The apex court bench, headed by Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri (Retd) had taken the Amicus Curiae report, which was submitted by him last week, into the record and fixed the matter for further hearing to March last week.
Kumar had visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri in Odisha while complying with an apex court direction.
The top court is hearing a petition filed by Mrinalini Padhi, seeking a direction from the apex court for various reform measures in Puri Jagannath temple in Odisha. (ANI)
