Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 24 (ANI): A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held on Wednesday to pay homage to braveheart L/Nk Subhash Chander, who succumbed to his injuries after troops foiled an infiltration bid by effectively engaging infiltrating terrorists during an exchange of fire in the Battal sector of Jammu.
Taking to X, White Knight Corps posted, "In a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, #GOC #WhiteKnightCorps laid a wreath to pay homage to #Braveheart L/Nk Subhash Chander, who laid down his life in the line of duty to ensure peace in the region, while undertaking a counter-terrorist operation in *Op Battal* #Rajouri."
The soldier, injured during the exchange of fire in the Battal sector of Jammu, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
The White Knight Corps said on X, "All ranks of White Knight Corps salute the supreme sacrifice of Braveheart L/Nk Subhash Chander, who laid down his life in the line of duty. White Knight Corps offers its deepest condolences and stands firm with the bereaved family in this hour of grief."
The exchange of fire occurred on the intervening nights of Monday and Tuesday, when terrorists attacked the Village Development Committee (VDC) at Gunda village in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri in the early hours of Monday during a firefight with security personnel, the White Knight Corps said.
Following the attack, an Army column near the area reacted, kicking off a firefight, they added.
In the last few months, there has been a spike in terror attacks in the Jammu region, including the terror attack on an army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Doda and Udhampur. (ANI)
