J-K: Sector Commander level Flag Meeting held between BSF, Pak Rangers

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Sept. 29 (ANI): A Sector Commander level Flag Meeting was held today between the Border Security Forces (BSF) and the Pakistani Rangers on international border in Suchetgarh area.

The BSF delegation of 17 officers was led by DIG BSF Jammu Sector, P S Dhiman and Pakistan delegation of 14 officers was led by Brigadier Amjad Hussain, Sector Commander Chenab Rangers, Sialkot Punjab.

This meeting was the first Sector Commander level meeting on request of Pak Rangers between two border guarding forces since heavy shelling and firing was experienced along the Line of Control (LoC) in the month of September.

During the meeting, BSF strongly objected on dastardly acts of snipping of two BSF Soldiers namely Late Ct. Brijendra Bahadur and Ct K K Appa Rao on September 14 and August 25 respectively while performing duty and further carrying out unprovoked Cross Border Firing and Shelling on number of border villages.

BSF conveyed strong protest with message that such provocating acts will not be tolerated and are unacceptable by BSF and shall be responded with equal and more measures.

Beside discussion on border management, BSF strongly objected movement of armed intruder in close vicinity of International Boundary during night time for infiltration attempts into India from Pakistan territory.

During detail discussion, Pakistani Rangers assured to take required measures to maintain peace at border with request that BSF should also restrain as much as possible in counter measures to see that minimum civilian loss caused on the other side.

It was also decided to re-energize instant communication between field commanders, whenever required, to resolve the petty matters. Both sides agreed for expeditious implementation of the decisions taken in the earlier meeting and committed to maintain peace and tranquility at the border.

Last such meeting of Sector level was held on March 9, 2017. (ANI)
