J-K: Rains damage several houses in Rajouri's Thanamandi area

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 29 (ANI): Heavy rainfall from the past couple of days has damaged several houses in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 29 (ANI): Heavy rainfall from the past couple of days has damaged several houses in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Around 30 kutcha and 15 pucca houses have been partially damaged and roads have been affected following landslides due to rainfall in the last two days," said Dr Zakir Hussain, Sub Divisional Magistrate Thanna on Saturday.
Locals have sought help from the administration and requested to provide funds to rebuild the damaged houses.
"This rainfall has damaged people's property and roads. A car has also been crushed under the landslide. The government must compensate to the victims," said a local.
"The corns crops have been damaged due to heavy rains. Several houses have been damaged. Drains are overflowing in my area," said Sarpanch Ali Mohammed.
Meanwhile, concerned authorities are carrying out clearance work at the damaged site.
Several field functionaries teams have also reached the damaged site for the assessment of loss due to heavy downpour.
On August 27, an alert was issued by the police here and people have been advised not to move close to any water body following heavy rains. (ANI)
