Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 28 (ANI): Rajiv Jasrotia, former minister and BJP candidate for the Jasrota assembly constituency from the Kathua district, was given a warm welcome on the National Highway in Kathua on the August 27 evening upon his return from New Delhi.

Jasrotia's name was announced in the third list of candidates on August 27 released by the BJP for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

The BJP workers and supporters danced, burst firecrackers, and raised slogans in favour of the BJP and their senior leaders. They took out a rally at Dr Shyama Parshad Mukherjee Chowk and sought his blessings after offering flowers to his statue.
Speaking with ANI on August 27, Jasrotia said, "This is going to be the first election in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. The people of J&K have decided to elect a Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party."
"This election is going to be a fight between national and anti-national forces," he added.
He also questioned the Congress over its alliance with the National Conference. "Congress has to answer the nation, do they want two flags in this country? Do they want two Constitutions in this country?"
The Election Commission has issued notification for the first phase of elections in which 24 seats will go to the polls.
Jammu and Kashmir is expected to witness multi-cornered contests on most seats. It is the first assembly poll since the abrogation of Article 370.
In the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year, the BJP won both the seats in Jammu, again demonstrating its strong support in the region. The National Conference also won two seats. The votes will be counted on October 4. (ANI)
