J-K: Police seize property of drug peddler worth crores in Kulgam

The Kulgam Police on Tuesday seized properties worth crores of a drug peddler at Nassu Badragund, Qazigund town of Jammu and Kashmir, said an official release.

Kulgam (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 6 (ANI): The Kulgam Police on Tuesday seized properties worth crores of a drug peddler at Nassu Badragund, Qazigund town of Jammu and Kashmir, said an official release.
The seized building is a double-storied residential house measuring 1145 square feet.
The drug peddler has been identified as Ghulam Rasool Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Nassu Badragund, Qazigund town.
Ghulam Rasool Bhat is presently lodged in central Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 (PIT NDPS Act).
The official release reads, "Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam attached property worth crores of a drug peddler at Nassu Badragund, Qazigund."
An FIR has been registered and police are investigating the matter.
During the course of investigation, the property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drug and Psychotropic substances by the above-mentioned drug peddler.
Earlier on August 1, in an action against drug trafficking, Kupwara Police have attached 16.5 marlas of illegally acquired land in the Khumriyal area of the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The property was acquired under Section 68(E) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS).A case has been registered and the property belonging to the drug peddler Manzoor Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Jabbar Mir has been taken to a preventive custody for drug peddling.
The accused, Manzoor Ahmad Mir, has also been taken into preventive custody earlier under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS).
Kupwara Police has urged all residents to assist in the fight against drug peddling by providing any relevant information.
Kupwara Police has urged the locals for their cooperation as an essential factor to combat this menace.
Meanwhile, on the same day, in the fight against drug traffickers, Bijbehara Police Station has attached a commercial complex valued at over Rs 2 crores, belonging to the late Abdul Rashid Dar of Tulkhan Bijbehara.
The property was identified as being acquired through the illicit drug trade, specifically the trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. (ANI)
