J-K Police seize 320 kgs of poppy straw, 2 held in Udhampur

Two suspected drug peddlers have been held after 320 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from them in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, police said on Sunday.

Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 26 (ANI): Two suspected drug peddlers have been held after 320 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from them in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, police said on Sunday.
Police also said that a vehicle has also been seized.
An official statement said, "Jammu & Kashmir's Udhampur police achieved major success by recovering 320 kgs of poppy straw at Jakhani Check naka on Jammu Srinagar National Highway Udhampur".
Police started surprise checking at Jakhani Check Naka following "specific inputs" and intercepted a load carrier truck loaded with empty drums of Tar Coal, it said.
"Police arrested the two suspected drug peddlers on the spot and seized the Vehicle also," police said.
"During search 320 Kg of poppy straw were recovered," said Anayat Ali, Executive Class Magistrate, (Naib Tehsildar ) Udhampur. He added that two persons have been arrested and a case has been registered.
Further investigation is underway, they added. (ANI)
