J-K Police rewards residents of Rajouri for foiling cross-border narco smuggle bid

Notably contraband heroin weighing as much as 8.5 Kg initially with subsequent recovery of 1.44 Kg, making as much as 9.94 Kg has been recovered by Jammu and Kashmir police in the instant case registered in FIR No. 36 of 2024 under IPC sections 8, 21 and 23 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) act of police station Nowshera of district Rajouri.

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 14 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Police reward five residents of the Nowshera sector living in the bordering areas, who had set a trademark of bravery and patriotic spirit by foiling a major cross-border narcotic smuggling bid, which led to the recovery of massive consignment in April 2024.
Police in its official statement informed that Police Headquarters, UT of Jammu and Kashmir, sanctioned reward money valuing 4 Lakh in favour of five residentliving in the border areas of LoC for their heroic display of brave and patriotic act.
The narco smuggling bid was foiled in village Makdi, which is one of the villages located ahead of the Anti-Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS), referred to as the LoC fence.

Alongside recoveries of narcotics, a major cross-border smuggling racket has also been busted following the swift sharing of intel by felicitating these border residents. As many as 4 smugglers have been arrested and interrogated so far, with continued efforts to unearth other linkages- transnational as well as those operating from their own side of LoC.
Jammu and Kashmir police have once again reiterated their firm resolve to carry forward its fight against transnational crimes especially narco, terror and narco-terror crimes by seeking and motivating the general public's active participation in noble cause. (ANI)
