J-K panchayat polls: 76.9% voter turnout recorded in sixth phase

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Dec 1 (ANI): The state of Jammu and Kashmir recorded an overall voter turnout of 76.9 per cent in the sixth phase of panchayat elections with Jammu division witnessing voter turnout of 84. 6 percent and Kashmir division recording a voter turnout of 17.3 percent.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Dec 1 (ANI): The state of Jammu and Kashmir recorded an overall voter turnout of 76.9 per cent in the sixth phase of panchayat elections with Jammu division witnessing voter turnout of 84. 6 percent and Kashmir division recording a voter turnout of 17.3 percent.
Udhampur district recorded the highest polling of 88.5 percent voter turnout, followed by Jammu district where 87.1 percent of people exercised their franchise.
The lowest voting polling was recorded in Kulgam district where only 4.6 percent electorate cast their votes.
The voting process began at 8 am earlier today, amid tight security. No untoward incident or technical glitches in electronic voting machines (EVMs) was reported from any part of the state.
Voting was held in 37 blocks spread across in 18 districts of the state.
The fifth phase of the nine-phase panchayat elections was held on November 29 recording a voter turnout of 71.1 per cent. (ANI)
