Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 18 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday released the second edition of the North Kashmir Gazette and Cultural Encyclopaedia of the Dard Tribe at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar.
Notably, the book was authored by Dr. Suheel Rasool Mir. Speaking on the occasion, L-G Sinha appreciated the author for writing about the culture and traditions of the Dard tribe.
"People from across the country and all over the world will get an opportunity to learn about the rituals of the Dard tribe, consequently expanding their knowledge about the tribe. I want to thank Dr Suheel Rasool Mir and his team for making this contribution. I am also thankful to the Indian Army and the editor association, " said the J-K L-G.
"The second edition will earn a greater level of love from people compared to the first one. It will help in fulfilling the objective with which the initiative was started," said L-G Sinha.
Earlier on Tuesday, L-G Manoj Sinha expressed his condolences to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in the Doda encounter and called upon the people to unite in the fight against terrorism.
"I am deeply anguished to learn about the cowardly attack on our Army soldiers and JKP personnel in Doda district. Tributes to brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice protecting our nation. My deepest condolences to members of the bereaved families," J-K LG posted on X.
The Indian Army used a helicopter to carry out a search operation in the forests of Doda as the hunt for terrorists in the region is on.
According to officials, a joint operation was launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday evening following an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Dessa area of the district.
This comes against the backdrop of the recent terror attacks in the Jammu region, including the terror attack at the army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Doda and Udhampur, which are in the Jammu region. (ANI)
