J-K: Digital literacy workshop empowers visually impaired students in Srinagar

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 21 (ANI): With an intent to empower visually impaired students and to provide them with increased opportunities to access information equivalent to their sighted peers, a ten-day-long digital literacy workshop was held in the summer capital.
The workshop titled "Digital Literacy Programme for Persons with Disabilities" was organized by the Jammu and Kashmiri handicapped association in collaboration with the help foundation J&K Voluntary Medicare Society and Enable India at Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) Bemina a non-profit charitable organisation.

The digital literacy workshop proved beneficial for the participants as the organizers distributed special mobile phones among them and also provided special training sessions regarding the utilization of phones.
A good number of personalities including religious scholars, social activists and mobile experts were present at the workshop. They gave live demonstrations regarding the utilization of smartphones with proper applications and proper settings.
In addition, the workshop specialists emphasized the value of comprehensive digital education, which produces these awareness programs and workshops, in order to improve the quality of life for individuals with visual impairments, particularly students.
The workshop wasn't just a platform to receive gadgets; it was a transformative journey that instilled hope, bolstered confidence, and ignited dreams of a brighter, more inclusive future.
Digital literacy is a significant aspect for visually impaired students as it helps them to become digitally literate in order to be able to fully participate in society and overcome certain educational barriers. (ANI)
