J-K Assembly polls: Top cop visits far-flung areas of Kathua to scrutinise security

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range (JSK) Shiv Kumar Sharma visited different far-flung locations of district Kathua to scrutinise the preparation of security arrangements for forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, an official statement released on Monday said.

Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 9 (ANI): Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range (JSK) Shiv Kumar Sharma visited different far-flung locations of district Kathua to scrutinise the preparation of security arrangements for forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, an official statement released on Monday said.
During his visit on September 8 to Basantpur, Satwain, Mahanpur, Basohli, Sheetal Nagar/Bhoond and Bani, the DIG JSK range also convened a meeting with the civil administration and paramilitary forces, briefed them with regard to the sensitivity of duty to be performed by them and assured them of full cooperation from Jammu and Kashmir Police, the release added.
DIG JSK Range also interacted with Brigade commander Bani and discussed various issues regarding joint anti-terrorist operations, Cordon and Search in any exigency. Brigade commander Bani assured him of better coordination and elimination of terrorists who have entered our motherland by whatever route very soon, the statement added.
DIG JSK Range also visited the police post in Bhoond and directed the in-charge police post for redressal of public grievances in a time-bound manner and a special focus be given towards female complainants, it added.
Complaints of females should be dealt by female staff and also given special attention towards NDPS/road accidents/land dispute cases, etc. He also interacted with VDG Members and checked the training given to them and briefed them about sensitivity of their duties. He imparted necessary instructions and guidelines to the territorial officers to make foolproof security arrangements during the election campaign and also directed them to remain extra vigilant on their point, it said.
The polls in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases: September 18, September 25 and October 1. The counting of votes will take place on October 8. (ANI)
