It was TDS assessment by I-T wing: Actor Vishal on raids at his office

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 24 (ANI): The president of Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council, actor Vishal, on Tuesday said the Income Tax Department-TDS division visited his office for a routine assessment yesterday and added that the issue needed to be sorted officially.

"It was a TDS assessment by the I-T wing. The issue needs to be sorted officially and I will do so," Vishal told ANI, after a raid was conducted at his office in Chennai yesterday.

There were reports that the Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (GSTI) Chennai Zonal Unit had conducted a raid at his premises.

However, the GSTI denied that there were any raids.

The raid was, reportedly, made to verify the non-deposit of TDS to the tune of Rs. 51 lakh, which the production company had collected by deduction, but, has so far not deposited in the government account.

The officials said that this was a 'routine check' only.

Vishal is the secretary of the Nadigar Sangam and the president of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council.

The Vishal Film Factory, set up in 2013, has produced six films including Kathakali, Naan Sigappu Manithan and Aambala, all movies in which Vishal himself was the lead actor. (ANI)
