Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 3 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday praised the Narendra Modi-led central government for approving a new railway project between Indore and Mumbai, stating that "it truly feels like the government of a 56-inch man."
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a new railway line project connecting Indore and Mumbai. The Ministry of Railways will implement the project at a total cost of approximately Rs. 18,036 crore, according to a CCEA statement issued on Monday.
"Today and yesterday have been among the happiest days for Madhya Pradesh since independence, with the announcement of the new railway line project between Indore and Mumbai by the Union Cabinet. The tribal regions of Malwa and Nimar had immense potential, but due to the lack of a railway line, they have faced significant migration since independence," CM Yadav said during a press conference in Indore on Tuesday.
The new railway line, which connects Ujjain to Mumbai, will pass from Mahakaleshwar to Trimbakeshwar and link four Jyotirlingas. The full significance of this project will be realized upon its completion, but its approval alone has already made a significant impact, the Chief Minister noted.
He further added, "It is hard to believe that such a substantial railway project, worth approximately Rs. 18,036 crore, was approved so swiftly. It truly feels like the government of a 56-inch man, Narendra Modi. When I last met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi, he assured me that traditional railway development would continue, but he also encouraged me to propose new railway projects."
"He urged me to identify new railway networks and submit proposals, assuring that the central government would provide the necessary grants. He also highlighted that enhancing the railway network in Madhya Pradesh would benefit not only the state but the entire country, as Madhya Pradesh is centrally located. Given this thoughtful approach, the project is bound to succeed," Yadav added.
He expressed hope that the project would contribute not only to the development of the railway network but also to the betterment of the tribal population and their livelihoods.
Meanwhile, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also virtually addressed the press conference, sharing further details about the railway line project.
"I would like to present some details of the Indore-Manmad railway line. As the Chief Minister mentioned, this railway line is not just for Madhya Pradesh; it connects the entire country. Madhya Pradesh is situated in the heart of India, so any development here benefits the North, East, West, and South. The new Manmad-Indore line, spanning 309 km and costing around Rs. 18,000 crore, is a significant project," Vaishnaw said. (ANI)
