New Delhi [India] August 28 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Wednesday extended support to the 12-hour 'Bengal Bandh' and called West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee "dictator didi"
"Today it is amply clear that under 'dictator didi' not Mamata didi - Ma, Maati, Manush is unsafe and only 'balatkari, bambaz and golibaz' are safe. Yesterday, we saw every attempt being made by 'dictator didi' to stop the Nabanna Abhiyan run by the students. Lathi, hockey stick, container, barricades, tear gas, water cannon, everything was used. Violence was unleashed on the protesters." Shehzad Poonawalla said.
Poonawalla further added, "Protesters were mocked and called murderers, rapists and what not by the TMC MP."
Poonawalla called for support for the 12-hour 'Bengal Bandh'.
"Today when there is a people's bandh, it is a bandh by the people, it is a bandh for the people, called and supported by the people," Poonawalla said.
Poonawalla further demanded an investigation into police lathi charge on the protestors of Nabanna Abhiyaan', organised to protest against the rape and murder of a junior doctor at R G Kar Medical Hospital and College.
"There must be an investigation. The media reports have come that how the bullets were fired at the BJP leader's car and how the leader has been injured," Poonawalla said.
BJP MP Hema Malini also requested Mamta Banerjee to take action to provide justice to the victim.
"What happened in Bengal is so wrong. Action should be taken...BJP workers are protesting over it (the case) and that is, indeed, right. An atrocity against a woman took place and action should be taken at the earliest. I request Mamata ji (West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee) to facilitate what is right in this regard and not delay it. The entire country is waiting. The perpetrator should indeed be punished," Hema Malini said. (ANI)
