"Is Tamil Nadu govt afraid of Vijay?": VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan criticises police for not registering case against TVK chief in Karur stampede

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader and MP Thol. Thirumavalavan on Thursday criticised the Tamil Nadu government for not registering a case against actor and president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Vijay in connection with the Karur stampede that left 41 people dead.

Trichy (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 2 (ANI): Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader and MP Thol. Thirumavalavan on Thursday criticised the Tamil Nadu government for not registering a case against actor and president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Vijay in connection with the Karur stampede that left 41 people dead.
"Is the Tamil Nadu government and police afraid of acting against him?" he asked while talking to the reporters in Trichy.
The VCK leader said that instead of admitting guilt or responsibility, Vijay was trying to gain political mileage by shifting blame onto others and targeting those in power.
"The politics Vijay has taken up, or the forces he has fallen into, are deeply dangerous. It raises fears of what might happen if Tamil Nadu falls into the hands of such forces," he said.
He further alleged that though Vijay claims the BJP is his political opponent, the BJP is actively protecting him, exposing his true leanings.
"If Vijay were truly thinking independently, he would not commit such mistakes. Those around him are all trained in BJP-RSS political workshops," Thirumavalavan said.
He cited the example of former BJP leader Nirmal Kumar, who resigned and joined Vijay. "Why did he leave the BJP and join TVK? Has he ever once called the BJP a communal party? Was his resignation an act of sacrifice?" he asked.
Thirumavalavan also drew parallels with actor Rajinikanth, alleging that the RSS had earlier advised Rajini to start a separate political party. He charged that Vijay too is being steered by RSS forces and warned that such politics would not succeed in Tamil Nadu.
Reiterating his stand, he said Vijay will never join the NDA. "His sole political objective is to divide the votes of the INDIA alliance led by the DMK, particularly minority votes, under the influence of the BJP and RSS."
"Why are police hesitant to act against TVK leader Vijay? Is there a secret link between Vijay and the DMK?" Thirumavalavan questioned.
He said, "If the Karur incident is treated as an accident, then the police should withdraw the cases filed against others as well."
Earlier in the day, on the occasion of Former Chief Minister Kamaraj's memorial day, Thirumavalavan garlanded Kamaraj's statue at the Chathiram Bus Stand in Trichy and paid floral tributes.
"Today is also Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, and both Gandhi and Kamaraj stood firmly against alcohol. Their path of total prohibition should be implemented across the country. Alcohol consumption was a major cause behind the Karur tragedy, which claimed 41 lives," he said. (ANI)
