IRSA members to contribute one-day salary to PM's Relief Fund in battle against COVID-19

New Delhi [India], Mar 29 (ANI): The Indian Revenue Service Association (IRSA) has passed a resolution to contribute one-day salary of its members to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, the association said that apart from what its officers are doing in their individual capacity in order to resolve problems of their colleagues as well as people living in their neighbourhoods, it was felt that the IRS should also contribute collectively as a service and demonstrate strength in numbers to the fight against COVID-19.

The association had asked its members to send their feedback on a proposal for making a contribution by all IRS officers to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for fighting COVID-19. The response was "overwhelming and positive" with many seeking to make higher contributions to the effort against this national challenge, even for the efforts in their jurisdictions.

After receiving the response, the association has requested all IRSA Chapters and HoDs to make suitable arrangements so that drawing and disbursing officers of all regions can deduct at least one day's (or more, if so advised by officers) salary of the IRS officers posted in their charge for contribution to the battle against COVID-19.

"The total contributions made may also be intimated to the All India IRSA for sharing with our members. The local IRSA chapters/Pr. CCITs are requested to ensure the same. Several officers are keen and willing to make a much larger contribution to the national efforts, either in the form of voluntary donations to the PMRF/CMRF, donation to NGOs, or through other means. In such cases, the officers are requested to make the contribution, and inform the same to the President of the Zonal IRSA chapter/Office of the Pr. CCIT, and to us at allindiairsa@googlegroups.com," the statement read.

The IRSA will also circulate a Google form, which such officers can fill out to intimate about the contributions made by them. (ANI)
