"Irreparable loss": PM Modi condoles demise of great-grandson of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the demise of Giridhar Malviya, the great-grandson of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya and said that it is an "irreparable loss" for the entire country as well as the world of education.

New Delhi [India], November 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the demise of Giridhar Malviya, the great-grandson of Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, and said that it is an "irreparable loss" for the entire country as well as the world of education.
Retired Justice Giridhar Malaviya, the great-granson of Banaras Hindu University founder, died at the age of 88 in Prayagraj on Monday.
"I am deeply saddened by the demise of Giridhar Malviya, the great-grandson of Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. His demise is an irreparable loss for the entire country as well as the world of education. His contribution to the Ganga Cleanliness Campaign will always be remembered. He had also created a distinct identity for himself through his work in the judicial service. I had the privilege of meeting him personally several times," PM Modi posted on X.
Notably, Malaviya was also one of the proposers of PM Narendra Modi for his candidacy from the Varanasi constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.
"He was the proposer from my parliamentary constituency of Varanasi in 2014 and 2019, which will remain unforgettable for me. May God give strength to his family in this hour of grief. Om Shanti!" he added.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah too codoled his demise said that the country will always remember the contribution of Giridhar Malviya.
"The news of the demise of Giridhar Malviya, the great-grandson of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya, is extremely sad. The country will always remember his contribution to the judicial service, his commitment to the Ganga cleaning campaign and his devotion to social work. His demise is an irreparable loss for the world of education. My condolences are with the bereaved family," Amit Shah posted on X.
In November 2018, he was unanimously elected as the Banaras Hindu University Chancellor.
"The Banaras Hindu University is deeply saddened by the passing away of Honourable Chancellor, Justice (retd) Sh. Giridhar Malaviya ji. Our heartfelt tributes," BHU said in a post on X. (ANI)
